Hi lads I'm looking a buying a 06 Volkswagen passat now, I'm looking at the 1.9 tdi and a 2.0 tdi for similar money but someone was saying to me I would be better off going for the 1.9 tdi as the 2.0 tdi engine tends to give trouble. Is this true?? Any advice to which is the better buy?

    Thanks

The 1.9 tdi is an older engine but far more reliable than the 2.0 which has a lot of common manufacturing issues/design flaws.

A well looked after 1.9 tdi is what you'd call a "bulletproof" engine that could easily run for hundreds and thousands of miles only requiring oil changes
