Best place to sell Dreambox?

Got a Vu+ Duo and my DM500 HD is no longer required.

Where is the best place to sell this? Adverts.ie is usually my first stop, but they have a blanket ban on advertising Dreamboxes for sale?

Quite surprised that you cannot sell a Dreambox on adverts.

Despite the fact that the 500HD allows for plug and play tuners I gather the one you have is the one that comes with the standard satellite tuner?

I gather from previous posts by ICDG that the paranoia emanates from the days of people using "Dreamboxes" with DVB-C cable tuners with patched software to illegaly access pay TV from UPC through exploitation of a hacked a version of Nagravision. Those days are long gone and the current version of Nagravision being used now renders that practice redundant anyhow. You still cant discuss DM's in the cable forum anyhow as UPC insist that you use their proprietary set top box only.

DM's with a satellite tuner are a completely different platform anyhow and are simply a linux box with a DVB-S2 tuner, like the VU+, Technomates, Ctech/Xtrends etc.

That being the case you might want to sell it as a satellite receiver.

Dreamboxes are the most popular CS receivers, they have a bad rep. That's why they are banned from being sold on adverts.

That may be the case but they also have legitimate uses.

not that I am a DM apologist, but its a fairly narrow minded approach, given that all satellite boxes have the facility to do other things, both linux and non-linux.

http://www.adverts.ie/help/forbidden-items 9th item, Dreamboxes, are specifically on the list.

A bit surprised myself as things like CD-R/DVD-R drives, video recorders, camcorders, tape recorders, etc., aren't banned.

Infact my dreambox was only used as a FTA receiver so its a bit of waste having it for FTA when you can do so much more with it
