    Hi

I've been advised due to problems in my hip and some early signs of osteoporosis I need to get some new shoes to comfort the pain.My first time looking for runners , shoes, gels for orthotics.
Can anyone advise me on where to go and what I should be getting?

    Thanks

Advised by who? Did they not suggest somebody? I'm not looking to offer you advice on your diagnosis, just expressing the hope that it's a professional one.

Mike Davis of Wellshod (IIRC) is regularly recommended here for Orthotics. I had a good experience with Dave Kingston of the Leinster Clinic Biomechanics Lab.

Once you have the orthotics Amphibian King offer a good service for choosing the right pair of runners.

IMHO you should definitely go to a specialist shop such as Amphibian King. In lots of the *bigger* shops the expertise that you get will be very hit and miss; in places like AK they know the details, makes it more likely you get the right pair.

    Hi all,

out of curiosity, what's the going rate now for a pair of orthotics?

I appreciate there are different types and no two pairs of feet are the same, just looking for a ball park figure.

    Thanks

    F

I paid €350 about 4 years ago. Price isn't a good way to judge quality though - I paid similar amounts for total rubbish.
