Myself and a few friends (lads) are after finding cheap flights to Newcastle for a weekend. Can anybody recommend cheap accommodation? Something located in the city centre would be desirable. There will be a number of us and we'd be there for 3 nights so we were thinking an appartment may be the way to go but open to suggestions. Any past experiences would be great too cheers!

We stayed in Jurys a few years back. Very near the rail station and city centre. I think you can 3 to a room with jurys. Train from the airport staight in. Great party town, brillient for a lads w/end.

swallow hotel in gateshead is ok and within walking distance after a boozy night out and close to the metro station aswell. Hotel is ok if you plan on been out all day. The locals tend to hit the town very early (with as little clothing as possible no matter what the weather) in the night and are well plastered by 10pm. Quays and haymarket are the areas to hit. 3 days might be a much as theres not a whole heap to do around the city unless you were going to a game or planning a day trip outside the city
