Mitsubishi L200 clock spring/squib

Have an airbag light on for the last 12 months and she's due her test now. mechanic plugged it in and the fault code tells us that there's a fault with the squib. Aparently it's a common fault in the 2006 model. Mechanic has fitted these in the past but not to Mitsubishi. can source one new from the uk (where the jeep came from) at 1/3 the price of local garage. Mechanic says he will fit it.

Only problem is that he's not sure if his diagnostic equipment will turn off light and says that it might mean bringing it back to main dealer to get it turned off. Anyone got experience with this?

Have him introduce a second fault and see if its possible to clear this fault code.

Doe tester says it will. Buying the clock spring today - €110 from 4x4.ie. Mitsi garage wants €330 for the part alone. Mechanic will fit it and try to turn off the light, if he can't she'll have to go to the Mitsi garage. They shouldn't crucify me on price for just turning it off :D

My problem is sorted now. Dirty connections on the wiring from under passenger seat. Squart of electrical contact cleaner and the light switched off with a diagnostic. Still off four days later thankfully.

I was gonna say that to the first lad - 9 out of 10 airbag warning lights are the under-seat connectors, someone gets in, moves the seat, the crap connector separates a bit and light on dash comes on..split connector, clean and re-connect - usually no need to re-set anything either..
