Cannot remove AVG 2012

Hi All, As the title says I removed a virus from a friends desktop running XP sp3 using a combination of rkiller, avg and malwarebytes. Since the removal avg has been running like a dog. Trashing the drive, hogging the cpu and consuming vast amounts of scarce memory(512mb total installed:eek:). It eventually settles down…

Hi All, As the title says I removed a virus from a friends desktop running XP sp3 using a combination of rkiller, avg and malwarebytes. Since the removal avg has been running like a dog. Trashing the drive, hogging the cpu and consuming vast amounts of scarce memory(512mb total installed:eek:). It eventually settles down after about 30-40 mins:pac:. I tried to uninstall it but it keeps failing with different errors each time, none of which I can remember tbh. I downloaded AVG's own uninstall tool but that just stops at "uninstalling toolbar", no errors, no complaining it just stops, its like it thinks it has uninstalled it. Any suggestions would be gratefully received at this stage;).
