Problems with a build

My friend has gotten all the parts for his rig today and i went over to build it for him. I completed the build and upon startup it would turn on for a few seconds then power off.

We checked and it is not a problem with power from the socket to psu, psu to motherboard and all the power connectors from the front panel are all in their proper.

I built my own rig a few months ago the exact same way and had no trouble at all.

Any help on the matter would be much appreciated.

    Thanks.

Did you apply thermal paste to the cpu? sounds similar to an overheating issue I had with my pc.
