Rent Allowance - Dublin 6 - Wait times, process?

Im just wondering what the current wait times are for Dublin 6 area when dealing with the Central Rents Unit once all documentation is posted? Ive read a few threads, but all were from 1-3 years ago and things have changed a lot since I last applied in 2009.

Also do they contact you at all during the process? e.g. when they recieve the forms, when it is approved but awaiting payment etc?

Heya I'm in Dublin 24 last year when I applied for Ra it was August sending them in and got notified by post late September it was allowed then few days later first payment in cheque so in total about 6weeks

Thanks for the reply, 6 weeks isnt too bad, im on the end of the 3rd week. Wost timing ever though with college starting in a few weeks

Did they backdate you from the date you sent in the forms?

Yeah I got it backdated from time we sent in forms. When the Ra was been updated in July it was only a week between sending in forms and when got notified in post.
