    Hi,
I want to clean egr valve on this car as it is hesitating at around 1700 rpm on gentle acceleration.

The question is do I need special clamps or gaskets or will I be OK re-using what is there?

One youtube video shows a clamp like one of those single use hose clamps, so any input would be helpful. Am away from car so I cannot check in advance. Thanks.

The clamp is not a single use clamp but it does require a special tool to release and refit (though you may be able to improvise with a pliers)

If I were you I would go to Peugeot and get a clamp off a 1.6HDI. They use a screw type clamp which is much more convenient to use for someone who isn't familiar with the other type.

The gasket itself is generally ok to re-use but getting a new one may be a good idea because they are easy to lose down the back of the engine!

I've had a very similar fault on that engine caused by an intake leak. It was where the hose exits the intercooler and heads up to the throttle body. It might be worth giving that a quick check before pulling the EGR out.

Very common for the intake pipe from intercooler to split over the alternator.

It usually won't result in any major hesitation. When its bad enough you hear the turbo boosting when your.driving

Bought the screw type clamp from Peugeot- part no 16283J- Tube Collar. Note in the parts diagram it does not show up as being screw type but when you buy it, it is.
I also bought the gasket from the valve to the head. Glad I did because I dropped the old one and could not find it. Total for both parts was about €16 Euro with the gasket costing about 80c.
Took the valve off and separated the actuator from the valve. Unfortunately for me the valve was not significantly gummed up. I cleaned it well, making sure to reinsate the drive tabs correctly in the valve.
There were no leaks from intercooler or other pipes.

I put it all back together and it is very hard to say if the car is better or not because the problem was so subtle in the first place. At the very least I know it is now clean and it provided me with some entertainment on a Saturday afternoon.

    Thanks for the help.
