Bike Cargo Trailer Tips

I don't think you need bother with a flag. I use a similar trailer, and am generally given a much wider berth by traffic.

The main thing to watch out for is potholes or kerbs when it's empty, and you're going at speed, as it's much easier to flip, or at least get one wheel airborne. Also, it's not as easy to get out of the saddle and stamp on the pedals, so get used to staying in the saddle and spinning a lower gear.

That looks a good price for what you get. I had another trailer years ago which attached to the seatpost, and it was terrible for speed wobbles, and general instability. My current one uses a similar hitch to your one, and it's much better.

When you start using it you have to get used to taking corners slightly wider, and staying in the saddle more, but apart from that they work well.

The flag is useful in heavier traffic to remind the guy following you that the thing is there beneath his eyeline, but you'll probably be okay without it. These kind of trailers get enough attention anyway because they are not common on the roads (yet!).

Also, look into getting extra connector brackets and fitting them to your other bikes (if you have them). Very useful being able to connect them to different bikes without dismantling anything on the bikes themselves.

I've got a trailer (for the kids primarily), and it is incredibly handy. You'd be surprised how much stuff you can pack in there after a raid on the shops.

Thanks guys. I can't wait till it arrives I have been meaning to get one for a while. I looked at lots of different one before finally seeing this one. The bracket fixing and folding were the main selling points. The price seemed very good for the construction.

My dog has gotten a bit older and wobbly on his legs so I hope he likes it and is safe. I probably have to add guards so he does catch his tail in the wheels. I have a harness for him so that should connect to the trailer in a number of spots. It will definitely work for shopping.
