importing car for use as PSV?

I am thinking of getting a PSV hackney taxi license and am looking at importing a luxobarge from the UK for the purpose. This is all very much n the drawing board yet but I wonder if I'd qualify for any VRT rebate when the car being imported would be for commercial PSV usage? Am looking at cars with €1500 - €2000 VRT at the moment.

This would be only a part-time gig but I feel it has the potential to make a few quid.

Would it not be cheaper to buy one here given that they are practically giving them away to the above average running costs?

    No Rebate given I'm afraid.
If you are buying to use as a Taxi then the car must not be older than 3 years to enable you to transfer a Taxi licence onto it.
Pretty sure the same applies to Hackneys.
Different regulations for 'Limo's' though....the age restriction does not apply.

The idea is not to get a taxi licence but rather a hackney, the whole plan revolves around charter drives and I'd be looking at something big and comfy like a Mercedes S350 3.7l V6 which can be bought reasonably in the UK in good condition.

There is enough clapped out Carina's and Avensis's in the taxi ranks and the entire plan revolves around giving the customer the choice of avoiding such awful options, especially those in the market for charter drives. I don't expect to be able to earn a living but it would be a nice sideline especially in the summer peak tourism months. It would be more a Limo charter service than taxi.

They are no longer issuing hack licenses, they are still issuing limo licenses though which seems to be more up your alley, they cost €1000, and dont forget insurance will be dearer too, yearly nct's, yearly inspections to renew the license.

A Chrysler 300 bought here should do the job for you, and cheap to buy as well.
