Saw these myself. Place was like a warzone. Managed to grab an acer 5734z for 199 brand new. Half tempted not to buy it. Still have it in my shopping basket in the shop!!

Hide it somewhere in the bog roll aisle, gives you time to think about it

That's what I did, I was trying to use Google on my phone to see what the reviews said about these machines and to compare prices etc but they were going fast so I put one of each into my trolley and took a spin up the personal hygiene aisle (that's always quiet in Navan :)) while I conducted my 'research'.
Once I'd satisifed myself that they were indeed a bargain I left the other one back and the shelf was a lot barer than when I'd left it a few minutes earlier.

Now that I've brought it home and set it all up for him I can see its quite a nice machine, although it seems huge to me because I prefer my Samsung Netbook and BB Playbook. Its more than enough for what he wants to do with it, it comes pre installed with a copy of MS Office 2010, which was a surprise.

The box says it comes with 2GB of RAM so I ran a 'Crucial Scan' to see about upgrading it for him and I was again surprised to see it actually has 4GB of RAM already installed, sure enough another look at the specs on the box and there's a little sticker beside it which I hadn't noticed which says "***4GBUPGR" which I assume means 4GB upgrade.

All in all not a bad little machine for a reasonable price I think.....

No problem, I called back there today and there was only one laptop left on the shelf (the Compaq for €249), but there were a load of different microvaves and microwave/grill combos for €45 each, various headphones for between €4.50-€19.99,
and quite a few Sony Bravia (amongst others) 32" LCD TVs for €249, plus an assortment of vacuum cleaners and kettles.

The Sony TVs looked a nice bargain, I was looking for one a while back and couldn't find anything for that price....

:)Got an Acer laptop in Tralee this pm for €199.
Staff member told me that they were originally €349, seemingly they sold a huge number including Compaq over the weekend. Looks like a nice machine, I only need it for email and Internet. Reckon for the price and my use it is quite a good deal

Where in the store are they? Was in Tesco Omni myself yesterday and could only see new model, Toshiba, Packard Bell and Fujitsu, all at E349/389.
