    Hi guys,

I having trouble laying my hands on some oddball fasteners and just wondering if anyone knows of somewhere that might help.

I need m3 button hex screws that have a captive assembly of a spring washer, flat washer and fiber washer.

I am currently having operators assemble tens of thousands of these per year which is a pain for them.. and even then, products are being assembled without washers because they fall off screws during assembly.
Id like to kill two birds with one purchase order.

Penn Engineering in Galway might be someone to contact.

I don't know about volumes but they make fasteners and could help you out.

I'd give MacB, Arnold, QEF etc. a call to see what they can provide. It's likely to be a custom fastener, but they're surprisingly cheap at volume.

My first thought though is whether the screws could be designed out (replaced with a snap fitting etc.), or if they are essential can the washer stack be simplified. QA on screwed assemblies can be a PITA.

    Aint that the truth..

Customer is playing politics with us.. RMAs every week being sent back on our shipping account over stupid stuff. creased fiber washers.. screws torqued correctly but still sitting proud by a 1/4 turn..

    wtf

That sounds pretty low, as if they're trying to test you. I'd get your customer support heads to see what the real story is. Unless of course a 125um screw projection is critical to function...
