    So you want to try to blackmail him; yea, you're not going to get that information through any legal source as it's none of your information (exactly for the reasons you stated).

    All folios are public information. You can access then online via the land registry website cost approx 5. If the bank have a mortgage as opposed to some other form of security it will be noted on the 'burdens' section of the folio.

    While I don't agree with your approach that information is certainly in the public domain and can be accessed for a small fee.
