Counter strike ranking

Sorry for posting here but counter strike forum seems pretty quite so was hoping for a quicker answer here.
What's the story with match making and ranking in CS:GO I started playing some competitive games and was matched with what appeared to be high level players and subsequently got kicked because I wasn't up to standard(after a barrage of abuse too, not fun). So I was just wondering how does the match making system work. Will I always be thrown in with superior players or should I just stick with casual play.

It'll typically put you in with players around your own rank. Don't know why it would have put you in with higher ranked players, unless you were playing in a group with someone much higher ranked than you. Thus it'll balance the teams out.

When i was playing matchmaking i was second highest rank, never really got put into games with players less than 3rd/4th highest rank. Only problem was you'd find a lot of the top ranked players were hacking, so it made it very difficult to reach rank 1

When you first start matchmaking it sticks you in with various levels of skilled players to determine your skill level. After you win 10 games you receive a rank appropriate to your own skill level.

I have to WIN 10 games!!! Oh this could take a while. Thanks for the info guys. I'll stick with it for another while
