Hi lads and ladies, I'm thinking of buying a rake for in front of the baler and could do with some advice on whats good and whats not so good thanks.
I looked at a Fella rake that will take in 2 x 10 ft rows and a Kuhn much the same size and a Claas 2600 that will take 2 x 10 ft rows as well.I kinda fell in love with the Claas rake and prices are similar but I know nothing about their strenghts and weaknesses. Any advice would be most welcome. Thanks T.T.F.

Contractor I worked for has the class 2600, it rake 3 9'6 rows in together. 3 seasons done now and not a bother with it, he reckons it's as good as a second baler. They are pig ignorant on the road though.

Why so ignorant on the road .does it not follow well or does it sway a lot.thanks

lely rotonde or fransgard t6000 will do 2 x 9 or 10ft, id say they would be more farmer machines than contractor

The width of them and the length the wheels are from the drawbar makes them awkward, saw one in town with a wheel up on the footpath and causing havoc with oncoming buggies , lad in the tractor under serious pressure

Its 9 foot 5 inches wide at the wheels, all the rakes have the steering axles in them to follow the track of the tractor which you cant disengage going along the road and if you turn tight to keep into the ditch for a bus or something it will go out on the other side of the road, likewise when you go to pull out on the road again it will turn itself into the ditch. It doesnt fit on most of the back roads around here either, both wheels in the grass on either side. Thats the only fault I would have with it and worth considering if one of the other brands has a better set up. Any I have seen though seem to be just as awkward.
