    Hi,
The tech slot on George Hook's show on Newstalk recommended the 4ife Sonic Bar.

Does anyone have one, if so how would you rate it?
I have a Samsung 42" plasma screen. i'd like surround sound speakers but not the cabling or having speakers around the room (it doubles as kids playroom).

    Cheers,
    Pa.

Yes, i got one, really like it, has definitely improved sound all round.

It comes with 'yet another' remote. It has audio l&r input plus standard headphone connector. You can also pair to a Bluetooth device to play music.

It switches off if it doesn't detect audio so you have to switch it on every day.

How would you rate the sound when it does work, compared to the televisions built in sound?

After reading all the reviews and everything I decided to go buy one of these. I had a set of aldi speakers on a dvd player and thought the sonic bar would look much neater on the wall seeing as space in the apartment is not good. Im certainly not a newbie when it comes to sound. I own a load of different types of audio systems from cheap to expensive, mostly all in storage until I have a house. Ive just been a sucker for audio speakers in general since I was little. Anyway, I opened up and connected my new sonic bar. At €99 it was well packaged and looked slick out of the box. Everything was going great until I plugged it in. The only word I can use is "shocking". The right side was distorting like crazy. So I disconnected the cable for that side to hear the left on its own. Still shocking. To be honest, I wanted to like this as I love new gadgets. Audio heads will already know this but for those who dont, I must point out that it is not 100 watts as it says on the box. 100 watts will be its "peak music power". Its more likely to be around the 20-25 watts RMS range so really not as powerful as the people selling this make out. To the point, no its not breath taking. I wanted to give something cheap the benefit of the doubt as from time to time something cheap does come out on the market and does impress. Its not for people who love their quality audio sound. If you have a really rubbish tv nd you want something neat to get better sound, then yes the sonic bar might just be the option for you if you purchase a working one as mine was actually faulty. But if you're a bit of a sound head in anyway, then wait and get a proper sound bar from the companys who've been around a lot longer than 4ife. At €99 yes its very cheap. Cheap being the key word. But the age old lesson of, you get what you pay for really does shine through yet again.

The powering of problem is caused by the bar going into power save mode.. If u turn the volume up high on the input device and control the volume using the bar its self you wont have that problem.. As for sound quality its pretty good but lacks bass which isba bit ofba down side but for €99 its alright

Great sound, the early versions had a power saving mode where the unit would shut down if there was no input for a period. My unit went faulty but was replaced hassle free within a few days
