Low Memory Warning

Hi there,

I am getting the above warning informing me that Memory is critically low and that I need to free some space.

This message appears when I run a game (CD Rom) and almost instantly it pops up when the game comes on.

Now I have 265gb of free space on my C-drive

Excuse my very basic question but can anyone tell me what I can do about it?

Can the game be installed to the hard disk ? I likely that the game needs to store setting or game saves somewhere and is only looking at the CD which of course can't be written to. What's the game ?

Sounds like your RAM is being maxed out, how much RAM is installed in the machine? Does this low memory warning only trigger when using this particular CD?

yes it does trigger when using this particular disc, only in the last couple of days mind

4.00gb is installed on this machine (3.80gb usable)

available physical memory is 1.67gb

sounds like "resources" rather than just memory itself


Which version of windows
which game

If a very old game it might be able to count so high - use compatibilty mode (right click on icon before running)

Had a few PMs from this lad today. It's a football management game called "championship manager 03/04". He seems to be running Windows 7 on a Dell N5010. It had been working fine until recently when he started to get these errors.

The "freeing up some space" made me think hard disk but he has lots of space on it. I pointed him to the games forum here in the hope he might get some help on it.

Just giving you guys some extra info in case it helps him.

having private conversations sorta defeats the whole purpose of asking questions on a public forum, and doesn't help anyone else with the same problem in the future

the trick is to provide clues

don't forget to check the game makers website too
