50 day ban at Ballinrobe

This is what really pisses me off about racing. They give a 7lb claimer a 50 day ban for not trying even though he finished third but wouldn't touch a professional. They accepted that he misjudged the ride and should have been.more prominent but this is an absolute joke. Someone having his fifth ride. It was a maiden hurdle sure half the field wouldn't have been trying and yet if he kept his out the back and didnt run into a place nothing would have been done. Thomas Doran on Massini's Trap

I don't have any sympathy for a non trier. I guess they have punished him for not being a professional cheat. Says it all really.

However, in praise of the beige coat brigade, they took action both Monday & Tuesday in Ballinrobe over shenanigan's so credit where credit due I suppose. If they didn't, we'd be all screaming blue murder.

Was it a bad ride or a non trier? Under the rule they convicted him shouldn't all those jockeys in the leopardstown maiden where they gave the 50/1 shot a furlong lead have gotten the same ban?

Yesterday's race. Held up out the back, rest hard at it, sluiced home & could have won doing handstands. Blatant non trier & banned under the non trier rule.

The other race at Leop - whole field given the slip by the outsider and found guilty under a different rule? "jockeys suspended for “not taking reasonable measures to give their horses every opportunity of winning” -

Different imo. I think the latter was appealed for lieniency.

I'd still be an advocate of tmo/citing commissoner type system, taking a bit of the pressure off the biege coat brigade having to make an on the spot decision at the track.

I was trying to look at a re-run of race. Has the Sportinglife limited video links to old races recently? or where might I be able to view it now?

Just enter the horses name into the search bar on attheraces and you can watch it there once you're registered

I noticed Nash had Tsar Paul running tonight. Didn't back it and it won at 11/1:mad:

Sligo stewards punish 'very eyecatching' run

Looked a blatent non trier to me! The Ballinrobe one gets 50 days for what looked like a misjudged ride but this blatent non trier only gets 21 days?
A 'very eyecatching' performance was taken to task by the Sligo stewards on Thursday evening when trainer James Wilkinson was fined €2,000 and amateur rider David O'Leary was suspended for 21 days after Rohan's Pride ran a fast-finishing fourth.

The 12-1 shot, having his sixth run under rules, was banned from racing for 42 days after coming in 15 lengths behind the winner Gentleman Duke.

The rider stated that his instructions were to drop out his mount and get home as best as he could as the horse had failed to get home on his last two runs.

O'Leary also stated that the horse made a respiratory noise and hit a flat spot before running on past beaten horses.

Trainer Wilkinson, from Enfield in County Meath, confirmed the instructions and expressed his satisfaction with the ride.

However, the stewards were satisfied that the rider had made insufficient effort and that the racecourse had been used as a training ground, hence the penalties handed out.

Commenting on the inquiry, stewards' secretary Peter Matthews said: "It was a very eyecatching performance, the horse was nearest at the finish after being held up, it was also his third run and a qualifying run for a handicap."

Wilkinson also stated that the horse had burst a blood vessel on his previous start, something which had not been reported to the the Turf Club.

This was referred to the Turf Club for further investigation.

Great irish stewards always hit the small man.the irish national hunt ambassador and his jockey along with the coolmore gang are most guilty of using the racecourse as a training ground and never a word said only how great they are.The king of ballybrit last week the same horses handicapped to perfection eg non triers previous runs. Then worst of all T Mullins after fosters cross won at leopardstown admits it wasn't the plan to win " he was only out for a run before galway" :pac: unbelievable he tells the stewards and nothing done about it.Irish racing is a nice little corrupt cartel with untouchables I'm afraid just do a few small men to make it look like there doing something and justify the cushy jobs .

I think Motivator you will find that there are much bigger gangsters in Irish racing than James Nash. He is only a tuppence happeny trainer/gangster compared to the big boys.

    Easy as that.

Returned even money so nice little drift.

Ruby just had it settled on the rail and once room was found jumping the last, quickened up nicely to win.
