Anyone know of any decent, reliable moneylenders or loan sharks in cork? Or a good financial institution that would be willing to overlook bad credit history.

Thats your problem, expecting decent reliable ones.
Plenty of them about but expect huge interest rates.

Best advice is to stay well clear, and try to get a loan from a credit union/bank, or re-assess or outgoings/income and see where you can afford to save some money.

You'll end up worse off than ever lending money from crooks like loan sharks, payday loan companies etc.

I think there's a company called providence or provenants that loan money.
I can't find them on the net at the mo so perhaps they don't exist anymore but a crowd like them might be better than a loan shark.
Could you sell something you own to make up the cash?

Provident or malboro trust(ray murray) give loans but interest is high eg 1000 over 12mths is 30pw.

If you were able to save €20 a week for 10 weeks in the CU, they;d loan you €1,000 on the back of that.

How much money are we talking, plenty of places if you do a search, but generally only a few hundred and the interest is huge

Go to MABs before you consider taking out a loan. They are free and deal with people in your situation all the time. They are on Penrose Quay and have heard every story before and will be able to help you out and work through any issue. www.mabs.ie

I would have thought the term "loan-shark" is enough to suggest they are all anything but decent.
