Can I make complaint about disgraceful treatment by nurse in maternity hospital?

I attended my local maternity hospital last October while suffering from an extremely painful and traumatic miscarriage. The treatment I received from from one of the nurses was absolutely horrific, I was shouted at and treated like absolute sh1te and left with no dignity during what was already a very harrowing experience. It is only now that I have come to terms with what happened that I am furious at how I was dealt with, given that I was in a very vulnerable position. I did not get the name of the nurse in question. Is there somewhere that I could make a complaint regarding the treatment I received?

    Yes.

You'll need to ring the hospital and ask for the patient complaints officer or equivalent and the complaint will likely have to be made in writing.

Before you do anything get a copy of your medical records.

In addition to Vorsprung's post, there's a website that tells you how you can make a complaint for the various health and social care services - www.healthcomplaints.ie.

    Also, http://www.nursingboard.ie/en/reporting_misconduct.aspx is an option.

But I suggest getting a copy of your medical records first, and finding out who the nurse was that treated you in such a way.
It could have been a healthcare assistant either or midwife either.
