Donal Dineen definitely. Always playing new and interesting stuff.

    Paul McLoone maybe?

What styles are played? Or what type of bands would they tend to play most?

(very interested in picking up listening to Indie / Modern new band type DJ's.. large collection but sadly still listening to the same bands from 20-30 years ago.. so i need to get more modern :)).

Edit - i just realised I was back in the Alternative/Indie forum.. so i guess thats already answered.. but more info would be great as Indie is quiet large styles also ... :)

Didn't know people were still recording from the radio in 2013. Terrestrial radio is one of the last resources I'd use to find new music to listen to in this day and age, use teh interwebz. Browse a site like Last.fm or Rate Your Music and you will be overwhelmed with new music to listen to, or browse online magazines like Drowned In Sound, Stereogum, Under The Radar or the many, many music blogs out there.

Spotify, Grooveshark, Google Music etc. are surely a better way to discover new music. They certainly are for me anyway.

(if this needs a separate post let me know, as I don't want to overtake Worded's thread)

Apologies, that might be my bad posting (brain issues :)).. By collection, i meant my vinyl/cd's.. I have spend most time listening to all those folks for years and years (up to Stone Roses/Bluetones/Inspiral Carpets etc years), but when I have jumped (although very few times) into modern areas I have found "decent" bands/people (Jake Bugg etc.) but felt that the older bands were better..

Now, I know that isn't true (on older bands being better).. as great bands are created all the time, but I just don't seem to find them.. so am very interested in new methods to release/play music.. I did use Last.Fm (but quiet a while ago) and came across great bands like Blue Rodeo... but I still am interested in understand the other areas/and DJ's.. so will definitely check the ones you mentioned.. thanks..

and the Donal Dineen mention from earlier will have to be checked by me.. His show is called Small Hours.. an excellent small band from the last 70's http://www.thesmallhours.co.uk/discography.htm
(ex Mod.. but i do know his is unconnected ) :)

(again, apologies if this is ruining the thread).

I record via IPhone using tuneIn radio. I've heard some amazing mixes / versions of songs over the years.

My recommendations for finding new musics (suitable for any genre btw):
    1) TuneItInRadio app. Availbale on iOS. (Not too sure about android).
    2) http://audiomap.tuneglue.net/
    3) http://www.music-map.com/
    4) http://musicovery.com/

    :D
