Computer built and up and running. Thanks to everyone that helped out with their advice, recommandations and opinions they were all much appreciated.

I'm back again to pick your brains once again.

My primary drive is a samsung ssd 120GB.
Looking at getting a second and maybe third drive, but can't decided between a WD caviar blue or the WD caviar black. Both these drives are 1Tb, transfer rate is 600MBps (sata 3), 64MB cache and 7200rpm speed.

I'm wondering what the pro's and con's of these drives are. Taking into account that the main use for the drive would be gaming and video.

Go for the blue. The blacks haven't been updated in a while and aren't worth the extra cost.

If reliability more important than price go for black!

When is the money (including lost growth) Michael Noonan took in the Pension Levy going to be paid back?

Bollox, the blues are just as reliable.

I agree, go for blue not black. There's one or two features thrown into the black alright, as well as the longer warranty, but it's not worth sacrificing the considerable speed difference.

    The proof of speeds:

    WD Black - WD1002FAEX - http://www.hardwareversand.de/7200+RPM/37168/WD+Caviar+Black+1TB+SATA+3+8%2C9cm(3%2C5).article
    WD Blue - WD10EZEX - http://www.hardwareversand.de/7200+RPM/62133/WD+Caviar+Blue+1TB+6Gb's.article

First one there is the black. Next two are the blue. Threw in the second blue on because I thought the results were pretty good, but there's always variations in the drives.

I'm wondering what the pro's and con's of these drives are.

The Blue is newer, miles faster, uses less power. It's a single 1TB platter whereas the Black is quite old and has 3x333GB platters...that's the main reason for the performance difference.

The Black has a longer warranty which is certainly a major plus.

I wouldn't tell you which to buy but that's the main pros and cons.
