Ballyfermot area safe for students?

    Hello,
    My girlfriend and I have recently moved into a small house near Ruby Finnegan's pub near Ballyfermot. We are both studying in Ballyfermot college and wanted to know if the area is safe for students.
    I've been told by a past student that there was alot of problems with students getting mugged. I just want to know what kind of area it is and should I worry about my girlfriend walking around on her own or anything? I got a letter in the post also, warning about alot of break-ins in the Ballyfermot area. Is there anywhere I should be wary of, or any advice in general would be great.
