Catholic wedding date

    My fiancée and I were thinking of booking 15/8/15 for our wedding but then someone said hat you couldn't get married on a holy day of obligation (eg the feast of the assumption)

    Does anyone know anything about this?

    This is from the Good Shepherd parish in Churchtown.

    Unsuitable days for Weddings 2013, 2014, 2015
    See below the dates that as well as Sundays are not available for church weddings

    2015 Major Feast Days and Holy Days of Obligation

    6th January Epiphany
    18th February Ash Wednesday
    17th March St. Patrick’s Day
    3rd April-5th April Triduum – Holy Thursday, Good Friday, Holy Saturday
    15th August Assumption of Mary
    1st November All Saints Day
    8th December Immaculate Conception
    25th December Christmas Day
