was wondering that myself, wouldn't surprise me if the clinic was the problem, lots of accusations and very little evidence

Maybe they should be invited to post here. The mods have been having a quiet time recently

The clinic's being on the go for a long time why would their be a problem now?

It did seem to go a bit nuts during the tour, massive threads on Froome alone.

The CyclingNews forums were shut down suddenly on the same day that the story about the Mantova Case indictments was published.

Some people are saying it must be because of Froome / Sky talk of alleged doping, and mods expecting the doping discussions to go ballistic with Froome on the podium of TdF. I think not, because lots of vague speculation about Froome / Sky had been tolerated there for a long time.

It's much more likely to be related to Mantova indictments, because that is a serious, serious legal situation. I believe it is an actual criminal case against many pro cyclists. Also, is it mere coincidence that the forums got shut down on the same day as the bombshell story dropped?

It could be related to "tainting the jury", with all the talk over the years about cyclists named in the indictment. Or, it could be legal threats from lawyers representing the accused cyclists, to remove any unproven allegations of doping.

Thing is, none of the cyclists named in Mantova are based in the UK, so you have to wonder how far-reaching this case must be, to scare CyclingNews into silence.

It doesn't take a week to make a software upgrade to a bulletin-board website, that's for sure. So the official explanation seems suspicious.

The forums for the other Future publications are down at the moment. Futuremusic, Computer Music, Guitarist etc.

    http://mos.futurenet.com/forum/

    See here also : http://www.classicsmonthly.com/

So unless there were cyclists invading the "What Microphone should I use for my mates band?" forum and accusing all and sundry of doping. I'd reckon the forum is broken or being maintained.

If you think "it mightn't take a week to make a software upgrade", you haven't seen our IT dept. in full swing!

True.dat. And judging by the amount of days the forums are down, they probably don't have an up to date backup lol

    Latest:
Important security update about Future forums

    PC Gamer

Last week on the 19th July 2013 we discovered that PC Gamer's vBulletin-powered forum had been the target of a malicious attack. Immediate action was taken to shut the forum which blocked the attack and we have since been thoroughly investigating the damage done and how this attack took place.

We have no evidence that any of the PC Gamer's users' details were stolen. However we feel it is safest to keep the forum closed until we are satisfied that the security vulnerability in the software is fixed. Information on the progress of this will be communicated via the PCGamer site.

Pity, I found the whole conspiracy theory angle a fair bit more interesting.
