"A drunken man was electrocuted and killed relieving himself on the third rail in Brooklyn this morning, sources said.

Matthew Zeno, 30, was walking with a friend along the tracks for the southbound G train around 3:10 a.m., at Union Avenue and Broadway in Williamsburg when the horrific accident occurred, cops said.

His 26-year-old pal tried saving him and was also shocked, police added. The friend was able to flag down MTA workers, who in turn called for help, sources said.

Both men were rushed to Woodhull Hospital where Zeno died and the second man was listed in stable condition.

The pair were returning from a bar, cops said".

Pretty stupid thing to do. It's fairly obvious that you're going to get a serious shock/die by pissing on something containing so much electricity.

This exact story was the basis for a myth on Mythbusters, which they 'proved' to not be possible.

Guess they're fairly pissed off about this.

mythbusters might still stand true, might not have jumped up the stream but could have been shocked by not moving out of the growing puddle.

Having looked through the thread I find it remarkable that no one else has commented on the tautological nature of that part of the article. Electrocuted means to be killed by means of electricity passing through your body, if you don't die you've just received an electric shock. It's like saying that someone "was beheaded & killed". One automatically implies the other. I'm disappointed in the pedants of AH for failing to spot this.
