The Government would be called racist if they tried that here.

Large billboards and signposts carrying the warning "Go home or face arrest" will be driven around London on the back on advertising vans this week in a new Home Office bid to reduce illegal immigration.

The billboards will also display the number of illegal migrants arrested recently in the relevant part of the capital.

Always irritates me the way the British media put forward, strenuously, the myth that they're the most liberal and tolerant country in the world.

"Go Home". Despite all the countries have invaded and settled.

Unbelievable, like the thing you'd expect to hear from a scanger here in Ireland, yet it's the government saying it over there.

And they are still raiding countries and trying to over throw legitimate governments like in Syria and what they already done in Libya. They have got their gutter media to condition the masses that they are only trying to keep out benefit scroungers.

Nothing racist about a sign saying illegals will be arrested if they don't leave.

It's actually an extremely politically correct society in some ways, so I'm really surprised about this. Of course people who are there illegally shouldn't be (they're not just telling anyone who's foreign to go home) but the manner in which this campaign is being carried out seems... uncharacteristic.

What if the same signs started appearing across the USA telling the many thousands of Irish immigrants to go home or face arrest.

I don't see how the government here would be called racist. If illegal immigrants are in Ireland, the state can send them home or whatever. They're not paying tax and they don't have any rights to stay in the country in most cases. Why should that be called racist?

The UK have a high percentage of illegal immigrants which is why they're advertising these.

But they do face arrest if they're caught. They're illegal.

    "Go home or face arrest."

Sounds like a curfew enforcing sign to me.

They could send those billboards over to Belfast.

The Orange Order believes in text messaging right?

It is uncharacteristic, but the Tories are looking over their shoulders at UKIP, hence the race to the bottom.

"Race to the bottom?" How is encouraging illegal immigrants to leave a "race to the bottom?"

Not only that, but it's a lot cheaper to have illegals leave of their own accord than to have to deport them. Can't find it now, but I remember reading somewhere it would cost something like £12 billion to deport half a million people.

Get a heap to go voluntarily and give the rest amnesty, I'd say that's the plan.

You can't go around colonising half the world then not expecting some of the locals to follow you home :pac:

But if it's such a tolerant society why do UKIP exist.

The amount of people voting for them is actually more than the amount of MP's they have would suggest I believe. Same with BNP.

UKIP will never get more than 5% of the electorate.

    Every rose and all that...

It's still the society in which people have been arrested and reprimanded for a tweet!

Waste more tax payers money on this campaign.

I'm sure the illegal immigrants know that they'll be arrested if they're caught.

Next it will be 'Murder someone and face arrest'

Haha in 1913 we should have sent them Billboards around Dublin in front of Soldiers barracks.

It looks to me like the UK government like to put on the "Big Brother" approach, "Were in Charge" now.

A BBC tally showed that UKIP won an average of 25 percent of the vote in the 1,700 seats it contested.

Granted these were local elections. The EU isn't going to get any more popular in Britain.

Tell that to all the innocent people they've slaughtered in Iraq and Afghanistan.

I have to laugh at all the shocked PC outrage above - from the same forum that brings you multiple weekly "foreigners"/"travellers" threads!

There's absolutely nothing wrong with the UK's stance on this.. these people are illegal immigrants and absolutely deserve to be sent home (let them apply for visas like their countrymen who did and if they pass the criteria then by all means welcome them with open arms).

If we took the same approach here rather than taking in all and sundry regardless we'd be better off too - but again we are so afraid of even appearing "racist" (regardless of how ridiculous the claim may be) that instead we whinge about "dem foreigners" instead.

They would be perfectly entitled to do that but if the specifically mentioned irish then that wouldn't be on. But to say all illegals then that would be fine.

I didn't say it was an idealist utopia, and the tens of thousands of Iraqis and Afghans that live in the UK aren't treated any worse than anybody else.
