Who pays for your Larsen and mink traps?

Just wondering in your gun clubs who foots the cost of Larsen and mink traps?

Do individuals buy them themselves or do the club pay for them.

Reason I'm asking is because over the years I don't know how many traps have been bought and handed out to fellahs never to be seen again. Left in ditches to rot and I even know of one that is being used to block a hole in a dog run.

    Your thoughts.

Our club didnt want to shell out for traps. They said a group of lads (vermin committee) going out for a day 2 or 3 times a month would have far better results. Thats great if you have a club with members willing to commit  I insisted that if we couldnt at least have a fundraiser like a clay shoot to raise money for traps then we I would have to make them ! I was in no way going to buy materials to make ladder traps or larsons so I requested a meeting and all members attend. At the meeting I explained to everyone what type of traps I planned to build and how if people werent prepared to go with a fund raiser or use club funds to buy traps, or even to stick to the vermin days, then they had to help me with the materials for building the traps. I requested that everyone donate whatever they could (materials wise) like 2x4's or any wood, wire, nails, screws, chicken wire etc ! People who had nothing (there was a few as always ) I told them to ask friends, even neighbours. Theres always someone who wants to get rid of a few bits of wood left over from a job or something. You just have to nag the sh1t out of people until they co-operate :) The end result was 5 incredibly well made larson traps and 4 ladder traps. They cost nothing only time and persistence. I spent a lot of time and some of my own materials building them. It was worth it as I enjoyed the making of them !

I think its a lot more beneficial when members of a club get together to build a few traps or a pen or something like that.

It's provides a bit of interaction and banter that you don't get normally.

In my club the NARGC gives a grant for the want of a better word of €500 for traps of all kinds and the club memebers pay half of what the trap costs until the total of the grant is reached. If any extra traps are ordered the full price has to be paid for them.
