Heading down to Redcross in a few weeks time with the family and was hoping to bring the bike, but due to all of space in the car it's either get the train or cycle.

Has anyone any idea as to which route is best to take ie cycle friendly and no huge climbs? I've been looking through Google maps etc and it all seems to be narrow country roads that us city folk aren't really used to.

If you really want to avoid the hills, the coast road is probably your best bet. Something like into town, canal as far as Stillorgan road, on out to Bray, Greystones, Rathnew, small bit of N11, Redcross. If you could stomach one climb, canal - Harold cross, Dubdrum, Sandyford, Enniskerry, Kilmacangue, Roundwood, Laragh, Rathdruum and either Avoca or backroads into Redcross. More scenic and laid back, but the the Kilmac climb is stiff if you haven't done it before.

Yeah I wouldn't mind doing one or two climbs with light gradients, won't have the road bike by the time I'm going, so I'll be doing it fixed gear on 42/16.

    Don't go via Roundwood so.

The most direct route if you're not confident cycling on country roads is to join the N11 at Bray and follow it until it becomes the M11 at Coynes Cross. Exit onto the old N11 through Ashford to Rathnew to the R752 through Glenealy. After Glenealy follow the signs for Deputies Pass and down to the N11 again. Exit for Barndarrig and then Redcross.
