    Hi Folks,

    Going to view this car today just wondering is there anything i should look out for or avoid?, photos seem to show it in good nick, but just need to know is that era of Golf engines good/reliable?

    Drive it and see if the turbo is still working.

    I test drove a couple in the past two months and 3 had a turbo issue.

    Make sure you note how the dual mass feels, check the engine code to make sure it is red I as the amount of lads going around saying their cars are the higher power model is ridiculous.

    Thanks will do, just confirm whats dual mass?, I like my cars but just wouldn't know the technical terms

    It's the dual mass clutch/flywheel, you will feel a judder in the clutch pedal as you pull away. If it's really slight is Ok as there is always this.
    If there is considerable judder through the pedal or you can physically feel it through the car then your looking at a car that needs €600-800 thrown at it to fix.
    After that check there weak alloy sumps for signs of repair, they are to ground strikes way more than other cars.
    After that the usual checks like panel fitments, oil leaks, bushings, shocks, rust and check everything inside works, every button.
    press everything :D
