I just asked people in work to keep them for me. Ended up with about 30 or so

I always have loads of bottles left over from tastings etc. They need cleaning but they are free. PM me if Dublin 6 is handy for you.

A decent restaurant will go through that many in a week. Ask your local.

Having worked in restaurants I can confirm this. They're just hassle for them so ask away and I'm sure they'll let you have them (though they will definitely require some cleaning). Recommend bringing gardening gloves to save yourself from any broken ones too.

If you want to reduce the number of bottles you are using, have a look for a "Vinotainer" which you can find on most of the Irish brewing shops.

They come in 5, 10 and 20L sizes and if I was going to be making a full batch of wine I would be seriously considering one of those.

On the subject of re-using wine bottles, does anyone have any recommendations for easily and completely removing old labels, including glue residue?

ive tried a few things, any oxi based cleaner seems to be good but then make sure they are washed really well after!
