I'm hoping to go on the Thursday, should be good to see the country's top amateurs up close.

Any details of times, draws, etc?

A serious amount of talent on show, including Kevin Phelan who played the US open this year and and Pebble beach in 2011, if I wasn't working I'd definately go and watch this.

Pfft, beating connacht is no great shakes. Ulster and Leinster have seriously strong teams!

I agree that Leinster and Ulster have much stronger teams on paper but anything can happen in matchplay so my thinking is that any win in the interpros is a good one.
It was only 2 years ago that Connacht won the tournament.
In saying that though, I suppose the really hard work starts tomorrow. A draw between Ulster and Leinster was another plus for Munster.

According to Lee Valley Facebook page, play suspended a couple of hours ago due to flooded greens!

Leinster have this in the bag. I had a feeling they would absolutely destroy us(connacht) :)

The boys inter-pros is actually a pretty close run thing

    http://gui.intelligentgolf.ie/interprovincial_championships

    Place Squad Fixtures Games
Played Won Drawn Lost Points Played Won Drawn Lost Points
    1st Munster 2 1 0 1 2 23 12 1 10 12.5
    2nd Leinster 2 1 0 1 2 23 10 3 10 11.5
    3rd Connacht 2 1 0 1 2 23 10 3 10 11.5
    4th Ulster 2 1 0 1 2 23 10 1 12 10.5

Connacht leading Munster 2-1 after the morning foursomes brings them level going into the singles
Leinster leading Ulster 2-1 also bring them level with Munster.

So 3 teams are level going into the singles this afternoon!

If Ulster or Munster win they win the overall

Was up there this morning for couple hours, class golf on display. Only pity was I couldn't wait for the singles, would love to have seen more.
The Connaught boys didn't seem too interested, probably hard to be motivated when they knew they were out of it coming into today.

Interesting observation, Dermot McIroy was only player without a caddy and was carrying his own bag. I found it unusual as it was hot and carrying would take it out if you today. And with 2 rounds to play I thought it must be a killer. Also noticed he doesn't wear a glove for any shot. Despite those 2 observations he's a class golfer :)

So who won? The GUI site says Ulster had 19 points and Leinster 21, yet they list Ulster as the winners?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,512 ✭✭✭✭Rikand

It goes by over team score

Ulster won 2 matches and drew 1.

    Leinster won 1, drew 2

    Munster won 1, drew 1, lost 1

    Connacht lost all 3

so if we imagine that like premiership soccerball scoring ( 3 pts for a win, 1 for a draw )

    Ulster 7 pts
    Leinster 5 pts
    Munster 4 pts
    Connacht 0 pts
