    code P4KFEST2013

Rdio lets you listen to millions of songs ad-free wherever you are – on the web and on your phone, even offline.

iPhone / iPod - Android - Windows Phone - BlackBerry

    Mac app / Windows app

On the web - Firefox / Internet Explorer 8+ / Google Chrome / Safari

    Sonos - Roku - iPad

Thanks to RobinT & stealthx @HUKD,

Excellent find, works with Sonos, that's the tunes sorted for the rest of the summer!

Spotify does the same and is free, the catch is you have to put up with banner adverts and an audio advert after your play 4 or 5 songs...usually about 30 seconds long, flicking through songs doesn't seem to activate an advert however, you normally have to have been listening to a few songs a good bit rather than as soon as you play it to be hit with an audio advert.

However from reading into it, if you pay for Spotify then Rdio is the better bargain, Spotify only allow you 3,333 offline songs on all your devices combined whereas Rdio are completely unlimited to the amount of songs you can have offline over all your devices. So if you have a handheld where memory space isn't an issue then Rdio seems to be better.

That said I stick with Spotify myself since it's free and the adverts are barely noticeable and not very intrusive.

But isn't it the case that Spotify is missing a lot (and I mean a lot) of the most well known music ? I heard Radiohead pulled their albums off it last week and other artists are doing likewise.

I am all up for a music streaming service and I don't mind paying for it either. But if I go to Spotify and key in something like the Beatles and its not there then it puts me right off.

its the same with netflix, after I signed up for the free trial the first thing I did was search Star Wars which wasn't there. The second thing I did was search Apocalypse Now and that wasn't there either. So the third thing I did was to set a reminder on my phone to close the account in 30 days, which I duly did.

the Beatles aren't on any music streaming service - AFAIK the only place you can get their stuff online is iTunes.

Spotify doesn't have everything, but it has a lot and has completely changed the way I listen to music (haven't used Rdio much but it looks OK - it may have some stuff Spotify does not and vice-versa but by and large their catalogues would be similar).

I only get that when I go to their Video service, Vdio.
Ireland is however not on their list of supported countries for Rdio.
