Avoid Hazelwood like the plague

Just a warning to anyone thinking of staying in this poorly-run kip.

Stayed there last year and thought it was a mistake right from the start. The apartments are nice and you can party away reasonably enough as long as the music isn't overly loud but apart from that it's a nightmare.

Firstly, they advertise it as a "5 minute walk to DCU and 10 minute walk to St.Pats"

It's a solid 25 minute walk to DCU, minimum, and that's when you take the "shortcut"

St.Pat's is a good one hour walk if not more.

Secondly, if you have a car then the parking is "free" in the sense that you only have to pay €70 for a buzzer to open the gates, €50 of which is supposed to be returned to you at the years end but I knew 7 people there with cars and none go the money back.

Thirdly, getting back the deposit is a no-go. I was staying with 3 people I knew and our apartment was in identical shape to when we left because the girls never let it stay messy for more than a day. At the end of the year they made up a load of nonsense as to why we weren't getting the deposit back.

They say they'll review the apartments at a date which is 2/3 weeks after the academic year finishes so it's even more difficult to argue with them because you're no longer living there.

When we were leaving we asked Gina or the man that was there if they wanted to come and view our apartment now so we could get the deposit back and they said they had to "view them all at the same time" and refused to come up with us.

Then when 2 of us got nowhere on the phone, we travelled up to Santry in June to demand our money back and see what the problem was. They said they had already "paid cleaners to fix the apartment up" and we wouldn't get our money back.

We even had photos of the rooms and all from the day we moved in and the day we left and they said that "they could have been taken in any one of the apartments and they prove nothing" :eek"

Absolute joke of a spot and I'd advise everyone to avoid at all costs.
