Can your parents be taxed extra if you are getting job seekers allowance and living at home?

I'm going applying for JA for a few weeks.
I'm 29 living at home, should I state that I'm living with my retired mother or do I say I'm living alone? Do I say if I'm paying rent to her? Officially I'm not renting (as in we have no agreement in place) but I'll be giving her a few quid each week.

At 29 years old your mother's income will not be taken into account as means for you. Whatever monies you give your mother, rent or otherwise, are of no interest to the Dept of Social Protection as your outgoings are not taken into account, just your income. Otherwise, at the bottom of the JA application you will be signing a statement that you have given accurate and complete information.

No but if you are under 25 your parents' income may be taken into account for your means test. http://www.welfare.ie/en/Pages/Jobseekers-Allowance--Benefit-and-Privilege.aspx
