'Posh' Wedding - What to wear??

Hi All,

Have my first ever wedding as an adult (apart from my dads one last year, which kinda doesn't count) and its going to be a pretty posh affair.

The bride and groom are both doctors, and as well as the grooms family being super wealthy and English - the wedding is being held in Lough Eske Solis.

Dont wan to be 'out of place' - I could be overly paranoid as Im not used to this wedding craic - nor am I one bit posh!

Was actually going to go for one of these from Virgos Lounge:

But a friend of mine recently went to a wedding, and of the group of 6 of them, 4 were wearing Virgos Lounge!! The thought of someone in the same dress is daunting :eek: So that put me off a bit..

Any advice? I was leaning towards maxi, Grecian style but want something unusual as don't want to clash with anyone!

The wedding is in September.

I had the exact same problem with a wedding I was goin to 2 weeks ago. Don't panic!

Virgos lounge is lovely but very popular, and as the dresses are quite eye catching it would be obvious if you and another were wearing the same dress.....eeekkkk!

You never said your price range, but I'm presuming its around €100? Just because its a posh wedding doesn't mean everyone will be really dressed up, it's hard to tell especially because its an English wedding.

First of all, don't let the "posh" thing faze you. Any wedding demands a good level of dressing. I think the two dresses you posted (while lovely) are more evening wear attire. I would scale back the beading and detail a little and focus on good material and design.

Do you want full-length or knee-length? I went to the Coast website, which is a great resource for ideas, despite being a bit cliched. This blue maxi dress immediately stood out for me. I've also fallen head over heels for this rose print dress.

Thanks girls!! Id be thinking Maxi or just above the knee, midi length just cuts me off and at 5"3 I dont need that!haha!

I think what you need is something classy and perhaps understated so you'll look a million dollars but won't feel like you're drawing attention to yourself.

2 doctors isn't posh. It's painfully middle class. Usually try hards
Posh is driving a Subaru estate, having several dogs roaming around your stately home and wearing ragged Barbours that smell like the dogs. But never trying too hard at anything.
Fella's perspective: Keep it understated. Less is more. something pastel and no embroidery or glitz. If your not confident of fitting in, better not stand out in something too eye catching.
And don't be worrying. Most people are sound. Enjoy the day.
