Bloody Friday is the name given to the bombings by the Provisional Irish Republican Army (IRA) inBelfast on 21 July 1972. Twenty-two bombs exploded in the space of eighty minutes, killing nine people (including two British soldiers) and injuring 130.[1] The majority of these were car bombs, driven to their detonation sites that same day. The bombings were partly a response to the breakdown of talks between the IRA and the British government.

must have been crazy to be in the city that day, thanks to the brave work of the security services the death toll was not in the double figures but 130 non fatality injured is crazy, hopefully we never see indiscriminate murder like this again.

What a laugh... how many people were injured over the last few weeks by lunatic unionists.. and you were all too happy posting in their defence.

Jesus.. at least try to hide your sectarian hypocrisy.

Post where I posted in defence of the rioters? Some disgusting comments in this thread sofar, both sections of the community where attacked that day.

I notice several people making up things and putting words in my mouth, I have been told I defend loyalist murder groups and support all things orange, my post history is there for all to see, I have always called loyalist terrorists scum and can only imagine that to some people being against the IRA = supporting loyalists.

the IRA are scum, the UDA/UFF/UVF are scum, I cannot be any clearer.

This thread has Truly saddened me.

It was of it's time, and unfortunately things got worse before they've now thankfully got better.

You have some neck complaining gallag. In the recent thread on the 12th you engaged in whataboutery and pathetic excuses from the off.

The only sad thing about this thread is that you are so blinded by bigotry that you think using this atrocity as an exercise in point scoring and whataboutery is acceptable.

This was over forty years ago OP, why are you bringing it up now?

That's some length of time to hold a grudge.

The more we let threads like this run the more we let the cancer of this debate f*ck up AH for the regular poster who doesn't spend time point scoring over sectarian bullsh1t.
