    Hi there,

Looking to find death records in massachusetts for 1920-1930, but I can't seem to find them online in the usual places.

The Social Security Death index seems to start in 1935, while the massachusetts death records seem to stop in 1915...anybody have any ideas!?

    Thanks in advance

    http://www.mass.gov/eohhs/gov/departments/dph/programs/health-stats/vitals/obtaining-certified-copies-of-vital-records.html

Mass Vital Stats control access to records from 1921 onwards.

I haven't dealt with them before but some Vital Stats Depts in other states can be a pain to deal with. Webpage doesn't seem to say if non-next of kin can have access.

Extra info in case other people come across this thread: In most US states (not all) there is public access to BMD records up to a year somewhere between 1900-1950. This year can vary for births, marriages and deaths. These records are usually at a State archive, which is usually in the state capital. After that the State Health/Vital Stats Dept has control of records to the present day.

State archives are usually straight forward to deal with. State Health/Vital Stats Dept usually have stricter guidelines.

    Usually :)
