I have to sign on tues but ive to fly out on mon night to go and see few people i know about getting some work in scotland so going to go into the dole and ask can i sign on on mon instead. The reason for this thread is that will i be ok to tell them that im flying out for an interview in a different country. Im thinking they might stop my dole because itl look like im not seeking work in my own country. Its prob a silly question but one i thought id ask because ive heard stories of people admitting certin details and theyve shot themselves in the foot doing so. If i knew it was defo a job for me, id just sign off and go for it but as its not concrete, i would hate for them to make me sign of and make a fresh claim when i arrive back. You see ive been unemployed for over 2 years and if this job interview doesnt work out, im thinking of going on the back to work enterprise and set up my own wee business but if ive to make a fresh claim, ill fcuk all this up for myself

I'd tell them. Explain that you have to leave the country for a short period for a job interview. You're entitled to 2 weeks 'leave', so I would imagine this is all stuff Welfare have heard before, and will know how to deal with it. However, I think you do have to give notice that you're intending to travel.

Call them first thing, and explain that the interview came up at short notice.

    Good luck! :)

This might be of some use to you :

You're definitely entitled to go job seeking in another EU country and continue your benefits, provided it's genuine and that you do the correct paperwork.

Dont think this applies to everyone on the dole. Just those who are on job seekers benefit or allowance. Forget what one it is but one can, and the other cant. Think ill just tell them that im going to the bottom of the country to look for work and wont be back till wed. Fcuk that filling out forms because ill prob shoot myself in the foot somewhere. Hopefully ill get a start and just sign of
