So when did you start watching wrestling, for me it was 1997 it was around the Austin/Bret Hart angle, so just as the attitude era was about to take effect. Also did you stop watching wrestling at any point, I notice this happens to a lot of fans, for me I stopped by 2008 wasn't so much the product just me losing interest. I've start watching again last year and found myself really enjoying it again.

I started in 1991, but lost Sky at home until 1994 / 1995. Greqt times

1991-2002 then stopped watching. Started watching again in 2009 and fell back in love

Honestly can't remember. It's just something that's always been there as part of my life :)

Can't remember when I started, but I stopped after the Benoit thing, that coupled with getting older just destroyed the feel good innocence of it

Last 18 months or so I have started watching the big PPVs and have enjoyed them a lot, I doubt I will even watch it religiously again, tbh 3 hours for Raw is just too long for me anyway

I watch some of the WWE DVDs too and bought a lot of Misawa DVDs of his matches over the years and have been really enjoying them

WCW Worldwide on ITV, early 90s and got some Wrestlemania tapes from my richer cousins. Got Sky in the late 90s and used to buy all the PPVs. Don't watch it much anymore, don't have the time.

I cant remember what year it was but it was around the time of the Kiss My Foot match with Jerry the King and Bret Hart!!

Good times! It has changed a lot though!

Started watching in 91, Ultimate Warrior and Macho Man were my favourites!

Stopped around 2001, no particular reason really. Kinda followed it via internet but only started watching again every week starting when Miz cashed in on Orton to win the title - hadn't a clue what had happened!

2005. The big feud at the time was Eddie-Rey.

First match I ever saw was Mankind vs The Rock panties on a pole, loser gets fired match. I thought it was great at the time, little did I know that Vince Russo will put literally anything on a pole.

I was a big fan back in the day of Hogan, Jake, Macho Man, Warrior, Million Dolar Man etc, then stopped watching during the HBK, Bret Hart 'era', came back to watching again around the time Kurt Angle came through and watched the tail end of the Attitude/ Invasion, and then right through to when Brock, Eddie and Benoit were main-eventers. The last Mania I watched as a regular was XX, Brock v Goldberg, Eddie and Benoit becoming World Champs. I never took to Cena, Batista, Kennedy, Morrison, Miz or Rey so I stopped watching.

Came back to watching briefly for last years Mania, think it was the one where Bryan lost to Sheamus in 18 secs. Have started watching again on a regular basis since the Rumble this year. Have Sky Sports so have Raw on series link record. Enjoying the product for what it is now. Can see more and more the lessening of Vince's influence over the whole show, which is no bad thing at this stage.

Just something that I've always watched, Rock was my hero when I was younger. I've actually started to watch more and take more of an interest as I've gotten older, even started to watch Tna last year.

Got into it in the early 90's, mainly through older uncles and cousins. Eventhough I would have been young, I remember the Hogan and Andre days. Followed it religiously through the attitude era and the invasion.

Like alot of you, I lost interest around 2003. I never liked the brand split and the likes of Rock and Austin were leaving and they were introducing Box Office and I was at that age (17ish) where its natural to lose interest.

I didnt watch much of the years with Eddie and JBL as main eventers.

Have gotten into it again over the past few months. I Sky+ Raw and watch it every week but havent started watcing Smackdown again.

Heyman, Bryan, Punk, Shield, Wyatts, AJ, Dolph and Jericho are the highlights nowadays. Theres a massive pool of talent at the moment.

Anyone remember Smackdown on Sky one every Saturday morning? Didn't have Sky Sports so never seen Raw back then.

I started to watch it around this time so 1999 I think. Watched it until 2008 then gave up because it became ridiculously stupid. Started watching again around the time Nexus came back. Kinda been giving up on it the last few months. Ever since wrestle-mania 29 . Watched all the ppvs since but don't really watch raw anymore because nothing really happens on it.

I think there running out of ideas. Sure now days they have an audience of mostly kids, so they can write whatever they want.

A couple of days after coming home from the hospital. My dad used to watch it every week so as soon as I was born, I was sat on his knee and watched with him.

Watched WWF/E until probably about 2005-ish when I started losing interest and for a while only watched Smackdown. Only really watch PPV's and the odd Raw now.

Started watching TNA in about 2003. Missed a few months every now and then since Hogan/Bischoff came in.

I've never fully stopped watching. When I stopped watching WWE, I had TNA. When I stopped with TNA, I had Indy's and Japan. etc etc.

I've watched wrestling since I was a few days old. Close to 26 years ago.

Wrestling was always family entertainment so to speak apart from the late 90's to the mid 00's. The in ring talent at the moment is great. Plus the thread's about when you started watching wrestling, not when you taught it died or what it is today

1996 I think was the first year I watched a wrestling match. It involved Shawn Michaels, not sure who against though. I was addicted from '97 until about 2002. I've watched sporadically since then.

I wouldn't consider it family entertainment in the 90's. It's like that now though.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 296 ✭✭LOTD

Yeah in the 90's it wasn't family entertainment, I said wrestling was always family entertainment apart from the 90's.

    Sorry misread that!

I started watching WCW before Animaniacs so it was sometime in 1993 as a 3 year old.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 34,723 ✭✭✭✭Penn

Whatever wrestling used to be on Saturdays on ITV. Watched a bit of that. Didn't get really into it until Channel 4 started showing Sunday Night Heat and a few PPVs. Once they stopped, I drifted away and didn't come back until just before the Benoit thing.

I started watching sometime in 1997, I saw my uncles tape of Canadian Stampede. I've watched religiously every week since. Now that I run two wrestling related businesses I think I'm stuck in it forever. FOREVER!

Early 90s for me. I caught Monday Nitro on Cablelink (remember that?!) for the beginnings of NWO in the Summer of 96 as Cablelink randomly showed TNT for a few months - I don't remember TNT showing PPVs, when was that? Also remember watching WCW on ITV on Saturday afternoons.

Didn't always get to see the uncensored Raw is War on Sky Sports but I watch WWF Mania/Livewire, Challene, Shotgun and Superstars religiously.

Earliest wrestling memory would be Undertaker beating Hogan for the belt.

Considering I watched WWF throughout the Attitude years, I'm glad they haven't gone back to that as there was too much focus on the soap opera and sleazy crap with little quality wrestling. (though WWE today has a lot of problems not least younger wrestlers not getting a proper push eg. Ziggler)

Today I still have a large DVD collection and keep abreast of the current storylines and watch the PPVs.

started watching in 1991 when we got Sky then sorta stoped around 1995 and didnt switch back till 2001. Have had some great times watching wrestling but over the past 4 to 5 years its gone so bad that I barely watch it anymore and only tune in for the Royal Rumble and Wrestlemania.

First match I ever saw was Saturday nights main event Andre v Hogan with the twin ref angle and I was hooked.
Stopped watching in the early 90`s and with the exception of wm 17, didn't start watching again until punks pipe bomb. So yes, I basically skipped the attitude era!
