Questions- CE Scheme

    Hi all

I was wondering if anyone could help me. Have been on jobseekers allowance for 4 months and a few weeks ago had a meeting in social welfare and was made eligible for the CE scheme. While I was there , she submitted my name for about 20 different jobs on the scheme (some of which iv no interest in at all :/)

So I have my first interview next week (one of the ones I wouldn't be too keen on but she put my name down so assuming I have to attend it?...)
I am always looking out for internship vacancys on the jobbridge scheme aswell and checking for more CE scheme vacancys too now that im eligible..

    So my questions are...

1: I have seen loads of jobs on CE scheme that I think would benefit me in my career and was wondering , to apply for the new ones advertised do I have to contact social welfare to submit my name for it or can I directly contact the organisation to apply now that I am elligible?

2: If I was to get offered the job from the interview next week, do I have to take it? Or can I wait to see if I get offered a job on any of the other places id prefer to work?

3: If I was to take the job (there are several places going for it so it could be likely), can I still apply for other positions on CE and would I be able to leave that job if I got offered a different CE scheme after starting work there?

4: Last question I swear...lol... If I was to take a job on the CE scheme, can I still apply for internships and would I be able to leave to do an internship if I got offered?

Sorry for all the questions, couldn't find any answers to them online at all...
    Thanks

1 You can contact the organisations directly
2 I think you can turn it down but I'm not 100% sure - DSP may now insist that you take it
3 I think you can change - you have to apply for a transfer - that might get turned down though
4 No - you have to be in receipt of a social welfare payment to be eligible for jobbridge

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

Just to add as regards 3. the only way you can transfer from one ce shcme to another is with the consent of both ce supervisors, so it ain't easy really.

I think you may be able to turn down a CE place but as I said Im not 100% sure. They cant reduce your dole if you do
    http://www.citizensinformation.ie/en/social_welfare/social_welfare_payments/unemployed_people/jobseekers_allowance.html
    Reduction in payment
The Social Welfare Act 2010 provides that your payment can be reduced if you:

Refuse an appropriate offer of training by an officer of the Department of Social Protection or FÁS
Decline an intervention under the Employment Action Plan (EAP), do not attend EAP meetings with a FÁS officer under the EAP or drop out of the EAP process
Community Employment Schemes are not considered to be FÁS training opportunities.

After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

Hey, just bringing this thread up again because didn't see the point in starting a new one.

So I went to the interview and they said they would be looking for me to start in September and they gave me the garda vetting form to fill out and bring back to them. So I got the impression I got the job? They never actually said that, just they would want to send off the garda vetting right away to get it back quicker.

Thing is, I have more interviews next week in different places and im assuming if I was to get offered places in any of them that im not bound to this one because they have sent off my garda vetting form? Could I choose ? Like do all places send it off regardless of you getting the job?

Being offered a place would be subject to you passing the Garda Vetting process. Keep your options open as vetting can take ages.
