Good morning, just had my morning coffee on the terrace, been watching the gannets diving just offshore, timed the gap between splash and bang and they are about half a mile offshore.

First posting here, hi from me.

    Thanks zoo4m8,

We have a few odd bits and pieces visiting us here, but it's always great watching the gannets.

The seal will be out on his rock later!

Gannets stick to the sea I'm afraid, they won't appear on Lough Ree.

There were two terns (Common terns I think) just south of the bridge in Lanesboro not too long ago though - lovely birds and they fish in a similar way to Gannets - drawing their wings back and darting into the water - great to watch and worth keeping an eye out for!
