Ok, Fender tele squier about 20 years old, hardly been played in 10. Gave it to the nephew and there's no sound coming out. Cable and amp work with other instruments. Looked inside and wiring all looks good, did power tests and all seems fine. Where the bloody hell should I start?

    All answers/input most welcome.

Check all wires again to make sure none are broken
Get a soldering iron & reflow the solder on each joint to fix any bad joints
If the guitar has been left in damp conditions the switch & pots might have corrosion
also try a little sandpaper on the nibs of the output socket, might be a contact issue

EDIT also try another cable some cables have issues with telecasters, angled neutrics etc

what he said, if you have a multimeter check every contact and component.

oh yeah, its a Squier tele.

Fender OWN Squier, but people will laugh at you for calling it a Fender.

    it's all marketing.

Like calling a Skoda a Volkswagen.

we all KNOW its still pretty good.........

but it's not the same :)

:) Much appreciated Martin, thanks for the heads up. Squier Tele. No more Fender. Haven't had time to progress, hopefully will soon.

I wouldn't laugh. They're the same thing. A decision was made to make cheaper guitars and call them something different so as not to affect sales of dearer Fenders. A Tele is a Tele, regardless of coming from the US, Mexico, China, Korea, Japan, Indonesia etc.
It's wrong but it's also a simple mistake. Some people are just mean ;)
