In all fairness, I was finding it tough to deal with the heat when it first happened, but after 2 weeks now i'm getting well used to it, even sleeping in it. So it just takes time, as we hardly ever get warm hot weather like this so it makes sense to give time for people to acclimatise to it, just like me.

It snowed here in March. I remember it was cold.

A Polish friend of mine once remarked that we don't have any real seasons here compared to them. It just rains all year round and the temp is higher in the summer.

This blast of sunshine is a break from the norm, just like the record cold snow winters in recent years were. We should enjoy it.

It's not a "good summer" to everyone you know. :rolleyes: just like 2 weeks of heavy snow isn't everyone's cup of tea, everything in moderation you know.

I personally find this weather hard to deal with. It makes me feel sick, I have a near constant headache, I burn like nobody's business, it makes me drowsy and in turn all I want to do is stay inside and wait for it to go away, and because I'm not walking around with 2nd degree burns all over my body, clearly there's something wrong with me.

In short. Fock this weather. That it may piss down rain for the rest of the year.

What about those who really just don't enjoy it. Should they pretend to, in order to appease the folks who love it? Or maybe just ignore their whinging and even have a bit of empathy. That works for me

No matter where I have lived, everyone comments on the weather. It isn't an Irish thing.

Why do we always think everything is a solely Irish trait? Probably as many of us are very insular.

On the topic at hand. Snow is awesome. wouldn't miss my ski holiday for anything.

What would be good about that? Shur the best aspect is the sun shining - in that sense there's no difference between this and 40 degrees.
40 degrees would obviously be way too oppressively hot, and we don't have the facilities for it, unlike countries where it happens a lot, so there is widespread air-conditioning.

No I love it (although 40 degrees would be too hot for most people) - I just don't feel others should have to share my opinion.

Ah I'd say plenty of people who like this weather wouldn't mind a quick downfall of rain just to get rid of the brown grass and briefly freshen the atmosphere.

But... you love the heat, and so do loads of people. And you just acknowledged some people hate it and find it uncomfortable. So no, I wouldn't agree it's moaning for the sake of moaning.

I love snow but I hate ice. It's great when you have really thick snow that's crunchy and non-slippy to walk on.
As for the heat at the moment (live in UK but same weather as Ireland at the moment) I do enjoy the lack of rain but can't deal with heat at all.
If summers were dry but cool-ish, and winters had lots of thick crunchy snow....that would suit me perfectly.

Still psyching meself up to tackle the snowdrifts, hoping for a thaw before Monday morning. Probably wont stick me head out till then. Thermostat on the heating is fecked, stuck on full blast, have a fellow coming round to fix.

I have good news warm snow (well not exactly snow but its cold and wet) will be coming to a town near you soon. Don't panic, temperatures will drop, the ground will be wet, the sky grey it will feel like Ireland again.

During conversations about the weather, in Scotland, England and Australia, I've heard a Scottish, English and Australian version of the "only in [Ireland], would you get four seasons in the one day".

As for the snow, I can't deny it's beautiful, but if you have to go places, it's a pain in the hoop. It loses its beauty quite fast too, but lingers for too long being slippy in places and/or slushy dirty brown mulch. Short visits are best. Once a year for a weekend. That'd do me.

I laughed at the bolded bit.. like sheltering from the blitz or something you are a real Irish person.

Irish people are an ungrateful bunch. The government turned the economy in the right direction and this is now reflected in the weather. Some people still complain though.

I'd prefer to take a walk in a blizzard than in this heat. At least when I come home out of the snow I can warm up. This heat makes me feel exhausted. I also have sensitive skin which gets unbearably itchy in the heat. I find it physically impossible to enjoy.

Getting back to snow, one thing I hate about it is how quickly the lovely white ground turns filthy looking. The first night it snows it looks beautiful. The next morning after cars have driven through it it looks disgusting. Then the council do a shoddy job of clearing it up and just leave gigantic mounds of dirty snow at the edges of the footpaths.

I love looking at a field of snow where no one has walked though.

I'm enjoying the sunshine as much as the next person but sometimes a little cool breeze or an ice cream can also be good.

That's the problem, people are used to the cold, but we humans quickly adapt to different climates, less people are complaining this week than last week. Granted, though, the humidity is way lower this week than last, but there's people over on the weather forum saying they've acclimatized by now and even felt cold dispite the temperatures being around 20*C at nighttime. It's 21*C and I feel chilly when I go downstairs and even colder out the back garden.

Tomorrow is the last day of sunshine, soak it all up.

Oh and I love snow. Winter 2010 was fúcking great. I wish it was like that every Winter.
