Anyone have any idea how big a job it is to remove a q cab from a Ford 4600? My old man picked up but cab is rotten and he was gonna take it off to repair, just not too sure how difficult it is or where to start. Also would the tractor be useable with the cab off?

Not too hard. You need to disconnect all the brake and clutch rods, handbrake cable, heater pipes, and all the block connectors.

Prob start with taking off the steering wheel, then the dash. There is then a block connector under this.

Then take off the floor panels, the panel around the lifs, the clutch and brake and anything else obvious.

There are 4 bolts holding on the cab.

Impossible to use the tractor with the cab off.

you would need some sort of hoist or loader as these Q Cabs are heavy

This might give an idea on how much is left on the cab

Thanks guys, ended cutting the centre of the cab to access the lift pump and assembly , easier than removing the whole cab :-)
colm_mcm are those cabs for sale? or just stock pic?

?? it is only gonna be a work tractor so not too worried.Have made brackets to replace panel and make it easy to remove if ever the need arises in the future. Lot easier than lifting the whole cab :D
we are fixing up the rust on the cab and gonna just use it as is
