Insulin pump insurance while traveling

    Hi All

My G/F just got a Insulin pump, She's been a diabetic for about 18 years but just got a pump.

The company that make the pump will send her a backup pump for her holidays ( 10 days in spain ) but they want her to insure it.

Does anyone know how I can go about getting insurance ?

Would travel insurance companies insure something like this ?

    We don't have house insurance.

    Any help would be great
    Thanks.

Maybe her diabetes nurse specialist at her clinic or her consultant might know something about this or she could post a message on the Diabetes in Ireland Facebook page. There are a lot of pump users who are members.

Personally, I travel back & forth to the US a bit but I've never gotten the spare pump or ever needed it. If anything does happen I would go to the nearest ER for help.

She has asked them all ( not the facebook page ) and they have no idea.

I've been emailing Insurance companies all weekend so I hope to hear back from them soon.

This is all new to her.. and they are the people that said she would need a back up pump just in case.. and the company that makes them said they will send her one but if lost/damage she will have to pay the full cost of one and that she should get it insured.
