Tonight at 10.30 the people of this planet are asked to look to the heavens and smile for the camera. What will you be doing then? I realize that this is After Hours but could we try and be sensible - for a change.

If Cassini's camera had a flash strong enough for us to see from Earth the light would take just shy of 1½ hours to reach us.

When Cassini takes the snap it will be looking at where the Earth was 1½ hours ago.

    Pale Blue Dot No. 3

We'll see the picture of us in a few days, which will be a tiny dot of us. The full picture will be a mosaic of the Saturn system with us in view.

Cool to think that at around 10:30pm tonight, a camera 900 million miles away will be taking a picture of us and our only home.

Fcuk I'm glad I mowed the lawn and power washed the decking today.

Wouldn't want cassini to think I was a knacker.

F*cking hell. Can't escape tourists taking pictures, security cameras, webcam spy people... Now they're taking pictures from fecking space.

So if I smile at 9pm, I'll get the picture?

AHers don't care much about anything other than Enda Kenny, Twink, scumbags and dole scroungers. The mysteries of the cosmos are as remote as good taste to them.

Only one hour and five minutes left. Please wear Ray Bans to eliminate red eye. No county football shirts, tracksuit bottoms, Jedward hairstyles or Rosary Beads. The photo is meant to give a good impression to all our neighbours everywhere in space.

You know that Cassano he would bang a woman and then trade her off to the room servant, for pasties. Real classy guy.

There will be the few that look up and smile into space for the camera and there will be the many killing and torchering other human beings all over the world, what a pretty picture to behold if it was a real photoshot, not.

If I was the Cassini probe spacecraft, i'd keep running and never turn around to take a photo.

Excuse me Boss. You've a few slates loose on your roof and there's one missing as well. Now we're putting on a new roof a few planets away and could fix your's in no time at all. Don't worry about the cost - we'll let you know as soon as we're finished. I'll be back with my men in a few minutes. We're run off our feet with work. Should only take a couple of hours days. Your guttering is damaged. D'you know that al the water leaking down could cause the foundations to slip? We can take care of that as well. No, no, don't worry about the cost. This will add thousands to the price of your home. So you see, you're making money out of us already. Trust me, I know what I'm talking about. Yes, all our work is guaranteed. 50 years if we can start today. From tomorrow onwards this goes down to 5 years. Jasus Boss, you're so lucky that it was me that spotted the roof instead of some of those cowboy builders that were on Joe Duffy.
