    is it too hot to top these days. i have a field that needs topping but i'm afraid i might do damage to the permanent grass - would only be topping thistles, stemming grass, etc

    Wouldn't mow the lawn in this weather

    Was listening to Gerry Daly on the radio yesterday, speaking in relation to lawns, but still grass right.

    He reckons ok to mow but not to go too bare.

    So if your just toppin thistles and stemmy grass, I'd say work away but keep mower up from main grass cushion so you're not cutting any grass.
