What does it take to get met eireann to say it will be hot ??
Today at lunchtime I listened to Evelyn Cusack tell us it will be warm even very warm all day and tomorrow as well!!
Sorry Ev but when its 28 in the shade in Ireland THATS HOT not warm.
She s not alone though , they all seem unable to say the H word.

Forecast for today simply needed to say hot dry and sunny all day.

I was told by a geography teacher many moons ago that forecasters will rarely use the word hot as it's not a forecasting term. They prefer words like warm and cool to describe temperature, rather than using the words hot or cold

The UKMO use 'hot' geneally for temps of 30C+. I think then over 32c+ is 'very hot'.

Persistent temps above 27C trigger a health advisory for Ireland, so 27.

If youre an older person with a respiratory complaint and your badly insulated Irish house is up to 32 because of it, its plenty hot.
